Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new accessories. They can also boost its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the required material or component needed to make that happen.
There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes to choose from and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will result in a lower chance of success.
Engineers will use a level in order to compare the height of the building with an established point, like a benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you could be able to get the stats that were important most to your build more often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are offered into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the higher your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a method to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and attain higher levels.

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to par with the levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. It will show the item's attributes, along with the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, weapons and armor have higher value when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor with an updated look.
